Department Stores / Malls In general, department stores and supermarkets have many of the same items you would find at home, but probably with a smaller choice of brands. Most department stores have a super- market section. Generally, stores are open daily from around 11.00-23.00 hrs. Big C and Central Festival Pattaya On Pattaya Second Road. Large parking area. Often referred to as Big C Shopping Centre or just Big C. Mike Department Store In Mike Shopping Mall. Between Central Pattaya Road and South Pattaya Road. Pattaya Basa Shopping Centre Corner of North Pattaya Road and Second Road. Across from the Dolphin roundabout. This shopping centre is still undergoing development. It currently offers some very nice shops including massage, travel agents , coffee shops, internet services, Kiss Food outlet and some nice handicraft shops. Parking is currently along Second Road. Royal Garden Plaza Next to the Royal Garden Hotel. Entrance from Beach Road and Pattaya Second Road. Tel: 710-287 Hours: 11.00-23.00 Daily Big air - conditioned mall with three floors. Has many cloths boutiques, a video shop, music shop, video games room, handidrafts shops, pharmacies, shoes shops, restaurants, a cinema and Ripley's Museum. Underground parking abailable. Get your parking ticket stamped at any of the outlets for reduced parking fees. One of the most popular malls in Pattaya. Supermarkets Pattaya has many supermarkets with a good selection of familiar food and products. They sell many of the same things you would find at home including wine, beer and liquor. Best Supermarket On the corner of North Pattaya Road and Pattaya Naklua Road, at the roundabout. Sells Triupmh underwear and swim- wear. Books, magazines and newspapers also available. Best Supermarket Liquor Store Attached to best Supermarket. Foodland Supermarket On north side of Central Road, between Sukhumvit Road and Third Road. Address: 190/16 Central Pattaya Road. Nice range of fres h fruits, vegetables, meat and fish. Has a deli counter, baby products, wines, beers, spirits, frozen food and more. Drugstore has a wide range of medicines with a very helpful pharmacist. Also has a very popular lunch counter. Friendship Supermarket On South Pattaya Road, just west of Third Road. Address: 20/390 M. 10, South Pattaya Road Tel: 723-513-6 Fax: 723-517 Hours: 07.00-02.00 Daily Limited selection of fresh products, but very good meat counter. Good bread and some pastries. Upstairs there is a very large selection of stationery and paper, china and cookware. Also has a good selection of wines and some items not stocked by other major supermarkets. Supper Stores Big C Big C Shopping Centre. Just south of North Pattaya Road o Second Road. See Department Stores/Malls. Tel: 361-297-9 Hours: 10.00-23.00 Daily Superstore with household items, clothes, electronics, appliances, toys and more. Lotus On the west side of Sukhumvit Road, just south of Thepprasit Road. Tel: 300-800-24 Hours: 10.00-22.00 Daily Large range of groceries, clothes, electronics, cosmetics, toys. Has a pharmacy and liquor outlet. Food hall upstairs includes Pizza Hut and KFC. ATM machines inside. Plenty of parking except at weekends when very busy. Markets The markets have an amazing array of food, clothing and anything else you need for every day living. Unfortunately, the heat smells might put you off, but the quality, selection and price will encourage you to go back. Some markets have fresh meat, seafood, vegetables and fruits. You pick and bag your own fruit using the plastic bags provided by the stall. Other food you select and hand to the owner to weigh and bag for you. Ask the price before you buy. Don't worry if you don't speak Thai, every stallholder uses a calculator to show you the price of anything you point to. Most food prices are nearly always the same for "Farnags" and Thais so you don't need to haggle over the price. Do try your hand at bargaining on the other stalls, especially if you are buying more than on item. Naklua Food Market On Pattaya-Naklua road by the "Spirit Tree" Open daily. This is where Thais do their shopping; only a few Farang shop here and no tourists. The Thais call it Naklua "talad kaow" (Naklua Food Market). In the morning, it has fresh seafood (excellent fish and crab), chicken, meat, fruits and vegetables. In the late afternoon you can buy homemade Thai food and sweet to enjoy on the spot or to take away. Naklua Sunday Market On Sawang Fa Road. Open Sunday morning until mid-afternoon. The market is normally very crowded. It contains stalls selling all types of clothing, shoes and fabric, clocks, bags, toiletries, plastic goods and kitchenware, raw and cooked food, some fresh produce and garden plants. Don't miss the plants and orchids along the street, in front of the Wat. Also sells turf squares. North Pattaya Market On Phetdrakul Road, heading south with Big C entrance Road on your right, it is a covered market on the left side of the road, with china plates, etc. Stacked on the ground. Open from about 11.00-23.00. This market is great for china. It can be Royal Thai Bone or end of line hotel china. Some good quality to be found, but it varies and some pieces can be broken. The rule is, "see it, want it, buy it" , as next time it won't be there. Prices are very cheap. Also sells plastic and some cookware. Pattaya Tuesday and Friday Market Across from Friendship Market. Large market with a wide selection of products. New and used clothing, food, kitchen item. South Pattaya Market Along north side of South Pattaya Road. Open daily until about 18.00. It has fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers, on the street and inside. Fresh meat and fish are inside. Food stalls, clothing and shoe stalls. Tourist Market Some sections of town have grouped tourist shops and stalls together for you to shop and browse. Many are open form late morning to 23.00 and make pleasant evening strolls. |

Cinemas The films do not run for very long, so it you see and advertisement for a film you would like to see, go quickly. Stay informed through the local newspapers or drive by and see what is playing. Pattaya has two cinemas with several screens. Both English and Thai films are shown. You may purchase your tickets in advance and all movies have assigned seats. You are allowed to bring in your own food and drinks. You may notice that the films are played quite loud and the theatres are usually quite cold. Film tickets are around 70 Baht per person.
